WASHINGTON — Mike Davis, founder and president of the Article III Project, issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Joshua Dunlap to the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals.
“Joshua Dunlap’s confirmation is a major victory for President Trump’s historic judicial legacy and for all Americans who believe judges must interpret the law as written, not legislate from the bench. President Trump continues to deliver on his promise to confirm tough, smart, and principled judges who will defend the Constitution and uphold the rule of law.
“Dunlap is exceptionally qualified: a graduate of Notre Dame Law School where he finished first in his class, a highly respected partner at Pierce Atwood LLP in Portland, Maine, and a seasoned litigator with extensive experience before the First Circuit and at every level of the state and federal judiciary. He has built a reputation for integrity, intellect, and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law. Judge Dunlap will serve the people of the First Circuit with distinction, impartiality, and courage.
“This confirmation also underscores the continued excellence of President Trump’s judicial team – Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and White House Counsel Dave Warrington – along with the strong leadership of Senate Republican Leader John Thune and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Senator Chuck Grassley. Together, they are ensuring the federal bench is filled with judges who will protect our constitutional freedoms for generations to come,” said Davis.
The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times.
A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream. Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
