WASHINGTON — Mike Davis, founder and president of the Article III Project, issued the following statement after President Trump made five nominations for U.S. district judges in Alabama and Mississippi: James Maxwell and Robert Chamberlin for the Northern District of Mississippi, Justice Bill Lewis for the Middle District of Alabama, and Eddie LaCour and Hal Mooty for the Northern District of Alabama.
“President Trump continues to deliver on his promise to the American people by nominating bold and fearless judicial nominees. These five exceptional nominees reflect the President’s unwavering commitment to restoring the rule of law and rejecting the radical judicial activism that plagued our courts for far too long.
“A3P commends Senators Wicker, Hyde-Smith, Britt, and Tuberville for their work to identify and support these principled nominees who will follow the law without fear or favor. We also applaud President Trump’s judicial nominations team—Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and White House Counsel Dave Warrington—for continuing to help President Trump pick exceptional judicial nominees.
“The Article III Project is proud to stand behind these nominees. Just as we did during President Trump’s first term, we will fight to ensure these bold and fearless judges are confirmed. Our Constitution, our courts, and our country depend on it,” said Davis.
The Article III Project (A3P) was founded by veteran GOP operative and attorney Mike Davis, who, after helping win the Senate confirmation battles of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, developed the reputation as a “take-no-prisoners conservative eager to challenge the left with hardball tactics,” as reported in The New York Times.
A3P defends constitutionalist judges, punches back on radical assaults on judicial independence (like court-packing) and opposes judicial and other nominees who are outside of the mainstream. Davis previously served as Chief Counsel for Nominations to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and led the Senate confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a record number of circuit court judges.
